Meizu 16 vs. Xiaomi Mi 8: Design

Meizu 16 design
Meizu 16 looks and design

There is no doubt that both companies have made great efforts to develop their latest flagships. Meizu 16 comes with a symmetrical design, it does not have a notch, although the ratio between the screen and the body is one of the highest (almost the same as the Vivo Nex!).

It has a ceramic glass backboard consisting of 7 layers of glass, as well as a built-in fingerprint reader, which makes its aesthetics even cleaner and more symmetrical.

Xiaomi Mi 8 has a good design, as well as its reflective back, but it has nothing new and has much in common with other flagships, such as Honor devices and the iPhone X. So we are going to choose Meizu 16 for its originality.

Meizu 16 vs. Xiaomi Mi 8: Display

While the Meizu 16 has a better aesthetics, the Xiaomi Mi 8 seems to have the best display, at least on paper. Indeed, it has a HDR10 technology and DCI-P3 coating, which should make its colors richer than competitors.

Both phones have Full HD + panels are equipped with Super AMOLED technology, so even if you choose Meizu 16, you still get a stunning screen with bright colors and deep blacks.

Meizu 16 vs Xiaomi Mi 8: Features and Software

With Meizu 16, finally, Meizu switched to the flagship SoC from Qualcomm. This device is much better than any other device released by Meizu because it is equipped with a powerful Snapdragon 845 chipset.

And one of its configurations has even 8 GB of RAM – the largest amount of volatile memory ever implemented on a mobile phone. Xiaomi Mi 8 also has a Snapdragon 845, but only 6 GB of RAM.

Therefore Meizu 16 wins comparison when it comes to hardware. In addition, Meizu 16 also implemented a technology of liquid cooling, which gives it an advantage over the Mi 8 games.

As for the software, we prefer the Xiaomi Mi 8 because of its MIUI with more features and stronger software support.

Meizu 16 vs Xiaomi Mi 8: Camera

Both phones have stunning cameras with bright apertures, high resolution and important additional components. Xiaomi Mi 8 was included in the top ten phones from DxOMark, but given Meizu 16 specifications on paper, we believe that its performance will not be so different!

However, until we try the camera or get enough camera samples to judge its quality, we can not choose the winner. Self-defence cameras are equivalent and both are staggering with a resolution of 20 MP.

And both boast of an AI-controlled algorithm to make themselves more beautiful. But notice that Xiaomi Mi 8 is the only one that has face recognition for authentication. So it’s safer and easier to unlock your phone using this device.

On the other hand, Meizu 16 has a built-in fingerprint reader, which is still an innovative and convenient method of authentication.

Meizu 16 vs Xiaomi Mi 8: Battery

If you want to go for battery backup than Xiaomi MI 8 will be best because it has a capacity of 4000 mAh and Meizu 16 has a battery capacity of 3010 mAh. Although we still have not tested it, we believe that the Meizu 16 will not go beyond a day of battery life with moderately tight usage.

Meizu 16 vs. Xiaomi Mi 8: Price

At the moment, Meizu 16 is launched only in China, where the starting price is about 395 dollars, which is very cheap according to phone specifications. Xiaomi Mi 8 is instead available worldwide, and you can get it at different prices depending on the market. In China, it was launched with a starting price of 421 US dollars. It is very difficult to choose a winner from these devices. Soon we will update Meizu 16 price in India.

In my opinion, it’s almost a draw, but I would have chosen Mi 8 because of the bigger battery and better support. However, if you can afford the Meizu 16 version, it’s much better than the Mi 8 with a larger display and a larger battery.
